Rich See, Curtain Up
Rebecca Corvino, Washington City Paper

MuseFire Productions, a three year old, D.C. theatrical company is featuring playwright and performer, Laura Zam, talking about her dating experiences, in a hilarious show called, "Stupid Frailty." Having performed in New York City, Czechoslovakia and elsewhere, the 40 something Zam, tells the audience right out that she is not a beauty, but has done a lot of internet dating, and lucky for us, shares those experiences and observations. After recovering from a car accident that almost killed her, she went after men with even more enthusiasm. For example, in her impishly appealing way, she tells of dating an old guy, Steve. With all of his medical problems, she felt like a goddess. And handsome Mario, with the crotch thing. There's more in this human interest monologue, "Stupid Frailty," through July 31 by MuseFire Productions at the Sweet Mango Café, 3701 New Hampshire Ave. NW There's a nice Jamaican dinner included also.

Last night's [7/7/05] theater event in Sweet Mango Cafe's basement was a great success in bringing arts to Petworth. Laura Zam was funny, vibrant, and edgy in her one-woman performance of Stupid Frailty, produced by MuseFire Productions. A diverse crowd filled the nicely bohemian space (which I didn't know existed). And Sweet Mango provided a pre-show meal of their famous jerk chicken as part of the ticket price. Well done all around.
