A. Lorraine Robinson

  is a Washington, DC based director, writer, dramaturg, and actor.  She most recently directed That Country for Madcap Players, a staged reading of The Quick and Method Skin for Arena Stage's Discovering the Future series, The Lottery for the African American Women's Playwright Group and Middle Finger for ASIA Theater Company.  Other directing credits include directing Nighthawks and two plays from Love's Fire for The Studio Theatre Secondstage, a reading of Refrigerators for ASIA, Getting Along for Tsunami Theater Company (which earned her a Commander's Award for Excellence), an adaptation of Letters from Camp  for The Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, Princess Maggie and Crossroads for The Shakespeare Theatre Southeast Project, and Mr. Blue for the Source Theater Company's Washington Theater Festival.   Her writing includes a co-adaptation of The Desk Set by William Marchant produced by The Studio Theater (nominated for two Helen Hayes Awards), Coffee Talk produced by Source's Washington Theater Festival and Tsunami's Festival of New Work, a reading of Summer Dreams for the American University Theater showcase.  Favorite acting projects include Queen Elizabeth in Richard III directed by Helen Hayes-nominated artist Caleen Sinette Jennings, September in Yesterday's Window for Tsunami, and Noi in Hunk of Burnin' Love for ASIA.  Ms. Hall is also the current Literary Manager at Arena Stage.  Ms. Hall has a Master's in Literature from American University and a Bachelor's in English and Drama from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. 

is a free-lance director, dramaturg and actress based in Washington, DC.  She most recently directed The Laramie Project at the Contemporary American Theatre Company in Columbus, Ohio and also directed their recent hit  production of Having Our Say, starring E.J. Murray and Sarallen (who won a critics award for Best Actress for her performance in the production. )  Lorraine has worked in DC, TX, RI, OH and NY with theatres such as: Contemporary American Theatre Co, Arena Stage, Dallas Theater Center, Round House Theatre Company, St. Mary's College of Maryland, Woolly Mammoth Theater Co.,  African Continuum Theatre Company & Source Theatre Festival, Rites and Reason Theatre, R.I., New York Times Foundation Young Performers Series, Georgetown Theatre Company, Women of Color Arts Festival, NYC; Washington Shakespeare Co.   She recently dramaturged Woolly Mammoth Theatre Co.'s production of Big Love.  Favorite Directing pieces include: The America Play, The Death of the Last Black Man in the Whole Entire World, The Owl Answers, Pass It On, The Lucky Stone, Killing Peter, Imposters and Agamemnon.  Ms. Robinson has a Master's in Theatre (concentration in Directing) from Brown University and a Bachelor's in Theatre & Psychology (with coursework in film studies) from St. Mary's College of Maryland.  In 2001 she became a semi-finalist for the New York Drama League Director's Project Fellowship and in 2002 her productions of The Laramie Project and Having Our Say at the Contemporary American Theatre Co. in Columbus, Ohio were cited as two of the top productions of the year by the Columbus Dispatch and Columbusalive.com.
